Order of the Phoenix was the fifth book, and the fifth movie in the HP series, so it makes perfect sense that it's number five on our list, too. Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix (2007) It was such an important part of the story, and the movie definitely didn't disappoint (other than, you know, Dumbledore having to die).ĥ. In the books, we'd gotten to see Ginny and her relationship with Harry grow, whereas in the movies, Ginny never really got much screen time (which is totes not okay), and it was like, BAM:īut the heartwrenchingly amazing way they brought Albus Dumbledore's death to the big screen made this movie so hard to put this low on the list. Then there's the fact that Harry's love story with Ginny Weasley felt tacked on. Harry, Ron, and Hermione just had a pretty quiet year compared to the rest of their adventure-packed time at Hogwarts. Half-Blood Prince falls at number six, because it was just kind of boring compared to the remaining five movies. We've already reached the point where we have to start nitpicking (which says a lot about just how awesome the Harry Potter movies really are). Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) But their acting chops got so much better in this installment, especially Rupert Grint, who delivered every Ronnerism perfectly!Ħ. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)Ĭonsidering the second film was about our fave BFF trio racing against the clock to track down a mysterious monster terrorizing their classmates before someone ended up dead-the movie felt a little. Then again, they were only 12, so what could we expect? Lastly, those special effects were not so on point.ħ. But it meant leaving out some of the ah-mazing deets from the book! While Daniel, Rupert, and Emma were perfect for their roles and we'd never replace them, you have to admit that their acting wasn't exactly Oscar-worthy back in 2001. They basically had to introduce the most complex, crazy magical world, and all its amazing, cooky, and scary characters, into just two hours, which, to be fair, totes isn't an easy thing to do. While Sorcerer's Stone gets nostalgia points for being the first time we got to see the wizarding world of Hogwarts come to life, looking back, the movie had some serious flaws-the biggest being that it just felt rushed. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) So if we were forced to choose favorites, here's our definitive ranking of the Harry Potter movies, from (least) best to binge-watch-for-days best!Ĩ. But there are 8 movies in the series and, and let's face it, some of them are better than others. There's no arguing that the Harry Potter films will go down in history as one of the most amazing YA-book-turned-movie series of all time.
